Juice fast: Day 2; January 4, 2008
Juice Fast Day 2
Date: 1/9/2009 6:51:00 AM ( 15 y ) ... viewed 1299 times I'll obviously update this throughout the day, but I feel like logging already, so here we go.
This morning, I woke up very early to pee. (Yay TMI!) After returning to bed, I found myself with a headache, which again, is quite common in the first 3-4 days, which are supposed to be the hardest. Having felt nauseous after my beetroot broth yesterday, the idea of beets this morning was making me ill. (I don't know why I was worrying about such a thing at 6:30am.)
Anyway, I woke up very late again, as Kwok and I have been doing all vacation, and thought the only thing that sounded good was cherry juice. So I juiced a punnet of cherries, added some water and here I am now. The cherries taste so nice. So clean. I feel I'll probably have to buy more cherries soon as this could become a favorite--just straight cherry juice. I'm sure there is a Michigan-reminiscence factor here too. They're so rich in antioxidants too; its hard not to love them.
I still have a small, but persistent headache at the moment, but the cherry juice is, like I said... really nice. I'm also going to have some hot water and lemon as a chaser. After this, its off to Argos and keeping myself busy.
I'm so grateful that Kwok is being amazingly supportive through this. I couldn't do it otherwise!

It is almost 4:00 now. I just went to the store and bought some more produce: cabbage, giant papaya, pomegranate, more cherries, and a treat of smoked salmon for the poochies! The dogs were sniffing in the bag as soon as they could get their little paws on it. Janie pretty much ate pieces whole like a seal, no chewing necessary. Elu liked it so much, he tried to steal pieces from Janie--not typical.
So yes... right now I am drinking a pretty potent concoction of cabbage, carrot, lemon, ginger and celery juice. I have to say, it is bordering on awful. I've never been much for cabbage, but cabbage juice is so good for you, so down the hatch! (Without the cabbage, this is a classically tasty juice to me, by the way.)

I'm having a giant glass of fresh-squeezed orange juice right now and it is delightful!
I'm actually feeling great today, with the exception of this morning's headache.
I'm not sure if juice "fast" is entirely the correct term for what I'm doing, because some people when juice "fasting" limit themselves to how much they are allowed. I'm not limiting myself, in fact, I'm trying to make sure I'm drinking a good few gallons of liquid everyday--between juice, water and herbal tea. Some people term this a juice "feast" but its not quite that either--because proper juice "feasters" actually drink insane amounts of juice each day. If you're interested, look up Angela Stokes, who did a 92-day juice "feast." She used to weight over 300 lbs and then went on a raw foods (raw vegan except she has honey) diet. Simply by going raw vegan, she lost 160 lbs within two years. (For those of you out there who do weight in other units, 160 lbs is more than one of me.)
So yes. Right now, I'm a pretty happy camper, though I need to up my water intake still, I believe.

All right, so the evening is difficult. Really difficult. It's the time I usually eat the most and what I wouldn't do for some butter beans and pesto right now... but I'm keeping on. I'm going to make another vegetable juice now....
