This weekend at the Town & Country Hotel, the American Solar Energy Society is putting on Solar 2008, a major renewable energy conference. It is the longest running national solar conference series in the U.S.
There are Public Days on May 3 and 4th (Sat and Sun) designed for the public where there will be 54 consumer presentations, outdoor demonstrations, renewable energy film series, 10 consumer workshops, and a huge renewable energy trade show. There is even a Solar Genius Bar to help families gain insight on how to cut monthly energy bills and reduce their carbon footprint. Public admission costs only $5 and their is a $1 discount for pre-registering (www.solar2008.org) and using the code "solarpub1", and an additional $1 discount for showing your trolley stub at the entrance.
In parallel on May 2, 3 and 4 are five tours including the, San Diego's only wind farm, the Climate Change exhibit at Scripps Aquarium, a green building projects at Black Mountain and Solara, several large PV installations including a solar electric parking lot shade structure, and state of the art solar electric, bio-diesel delivery trucks, a plug-in hybrid, and free beer tasters at Stone Brewery in Escondido. All tours will leave from the Town and Country Convention Center in Mission Valley.
