January 9, 08

I got a call back from Evelyn,
the receptionist at the San Diego Natural History Museum.

I am going down there.

I will buy two more replica's
of minature Dead Sea Scroll Jars.
They come from Israel.

I am not sure if in this life I will
visit Qumran. I part of me says yes.

I am grateful that artifacts of Qumran
came to visit me.

Father and son.
Scribe and Scroll.
Soul and Earth.

These things go together.

Dr. Pam Fox Kuhlken got our tickets.
She put them on the account of
Dr. David Noel Freedman,
one of the key players in this exhibit.

The Tickets says 8:00 PM June 6,
No Refunds. No Exchanges.

We entered around 9 PM after viewing
the Virtual Tour of Qumran in the Theatre
and taking a bite to eat that I brought along.
I knew we would be hungry.

I was curious about the people who
choose to be in the Dead Sea Scroll area
for the last hour.

There was a man, Julian Ely,
who was sitting near the Isaiah Scroll
with a Bible.

I was drawn to him like a Bee to Light.

I asked him what he was studying.
He was looking at a line in the Scroll that
did not appear in the version of the Bible
he was reading.

Then, there was Holly.
She was wearing something white.
She was the Greeter at the entryway.
She handed out the gadget so we could hear
what each stop was about.

She looked at me as if she saw something.
She made me feel honored that I was there.
I was honored that she was there.

She told me she was a Whale Guide that
worked in conjunction with the Museum.

He said she was fascinated with Ancient Scriptures.

I asked what drew her.

She said Jonah and Job.

I imagine her Soul had something to do with
the Scribing of that book where the story of Jonah
is told.

The Book of Job, I had something to do with that book.
I have been told my Soul was a Scribe on that book.
It was written in the time of Abraham, by a man
named the Prince of Salem, the man known
as Metchelzidek. It is told in legend that this
was Soul was already in perfection, that he lived
900 years, that is was a materialization born
neither of man or woman. Metchelzidek, legend
says, is the same soul as the man known as Jesus.

I did not tell any of that to Holly.
It would have been a bit much.
It would have been unnecessary.

I pulled out a copy of my book,
REKINDLING OF FAITH.

I showed her JOB's PRAYER
one of the poems in it.
She was moved.

I asked her if she wanted to see another.
She said yes.

I showed her the poem
REKINDLING OF FAITH, the name poem
in the book.

We exchanged emails.

She said she wanted to get into the exhibit.
Her husband was in there already.

During the next hour, I met him.
I reached for his hand.
I knew instantly he worked with wood.

"Are you a carpenter?" I asked.
He said he had worked construction.

Gini Energy was there too.
She was spending time in another room.
I wondered where she was.
She came to find me.
She wanted me to know her whereabouts.
We made a plan.
We would meet outside on the couches
a little beyond the exit.

There was a room in the exhibit where
someone had crafted a bit of what looked
like a Scriptorium, the room where some say
the Essenes scribed.

I would say so.

I had printed up on Rhimax chemical free paper
a photo of Job's Tears. I went up to the ledge.
I layed out the paper next to a replica of an artifact
of scroll writing.

I placed a number of Job's Tears on the sheet,
that I was carrying in a replica of a Dead Sea Scroll mini Jar
I had purchased earlier. The jar was filled with numbers
of Job's Tears, enough to make a shaker.

I put some of seed of Job's Tears on the paper.
Then I walked away.

I was thinking I might leave the seeds and the paper there
and let the people would would come to disassembly that part
of the exhibit find it.

I went away into the other room. There were no less that two
security guards walking back and forth.

When, I went back to the area where I had placed the piece of
paper, that was my version of parchment, a security guard
person had it in her hand. I came up and let it be known
I placed it there for a few minutes. I reached for it.
The seeds were on it. She was concerned that I loose some
of the seeds. I gathered them all up. There were seven seeds.

I was carrying my book.
I had asked permission to walk the exhibit with my shofar,
a ram's horn. The exhibit staff member, who gave me permission
to carry it in there, wanted to make sure I would not blow it in there.
I told her I had no intention to do that.

I spent time at the Book of Job.
I layed REKINDLING OF FAITH out.

I read a few passages from the poem.
I started to have tears.

They fell on the pages.

A staff member from the Museum announced the exhibit
would close in fifteen minutes.

I wanted to leave. I had been in the museum
since around 3:30 PM. It was now close to 10 PM.

There was no mention by the Museum that this was the
final day or the final hour.

There did not seem to be any other kind of acknowledgement
or honoring of the energies of completion.

I had heard from Janet, the woman who gave me permission
to carry my shofar, that the dignitaries from Israel were on site
for the final day. I had missed them by about ten minutes.
They left in a cab. I might have asked to take a photo of them.

This photo taking was not meant to be.

There were some Hebrew Psalms in the air
nearby the exit. That was a nice touch.

I went out and sat down on the couch.
Gini came out next. Then Julian Ely before long.

I had a brief final part of the Closing in mind.
The three of us went out to where the stand of
Peppermint Geranium was growing.

Gail, one of the security guards, was sitting
at the desk near the this the South Door.

Julian, Gini and I walked over to the stand
of Peppermint Scented Geraniums.

Gini went to her car to drop off things
so her hands would be free. It was windy.
It was wet from rain. I was carrying an umbrella
but did not need it.

There had been intermittent rain all day,
remarkable rain.

It had rained all night, all night the night
before the day of the closing.

It stopped raining when I left the house that morning
for the Farmers' Market. I was talking to the weather,
encouraging the sun to break through.

I was speaking out loud to the clouds and sun.
What else might you expect from an Enchanted Gardener?

When I arrived at the Farmers' Market, I saw Mariah my friend.
"Would you like more Sun I asked?" He said, "Yes!" and smiled.

I was to meet two young Moms and some kids across
from the music, where Joe the Farmer sets up shop.

I went to say hello to Joe.

"Would you like more Sun?" I asked.
"No," he said, "Everything is just perfect."
He was very happy with things the way they were.
There was no rain during the market.
He needed the business. Joe, a good Catholic,
is generally happy with his lot.

He is also my spiritual brother, my dearest of friends.

The moment the market was finished it began to rain.

It rained through part of the Charger's Play off game.
It rained for about an hour, likely keeping traffic a bit
from the Museum.

It may have rained on an off during the day.

There were about 70 people in the Museum around 8 PM.

I asked them to make a few announcements for Pam.
She was signing books.

Janet, who works marketing, Joshua, the security guard,
and one of the V.P's were standing near the microphone
ticket selling area.

I asked Janet if there were any announcements planned,
noting the the final hours of the exhibit. She said
it was handled.

On the web site, I loved the way the had a counter going.
16 more hours! 8 more hours! At the museum,
the end seemed to come with a whimper. No one
was calling attention to the final moments.

The clock was ticking inside my head.

The three of us met at the stand of geraniums.

I walked on the grass with Julian to show him
the enormous Tree of Life.

Then Gini came over to see it.

Then the three of us went back to the stand of geraniums
and their heart shaped green leaves.

I asked Julian to say a prayer.
I knew he was a devout Christian.
He gave a lovely prayer in Jesus' name.

Then I asked Gini to say a prayer.
She gave the energy to be carried everywhere by the wind.

I turned in the direction of the geraniums and blew the shofar.
