Making Plans for a Healthy Post-Fast Diet 18 y
An Extended List of Essential Vitamins and Minerals
So I’ve been spending the last few days tweaking what will be my post-fast, long-term diet. I’ve gotten information from this site and all over the net, and will be using locally grown produce wherever possible. It’s not finished, but in the meantime I think some of you might want to read the results of my research in a condensed form.

Water Fasting Aborted 18 y
The detox of a water fast is the most powerful thing I've ever experienced, even if it was for 36 hours.
36 hours into my water fast was enough to convince me that I’m not able to take such a drastic step at this time. I was feeling faint and wanted to pass out most of the time - and almost experienced a blackout at the supermarket. I attributed this to the fact that I still have some excess weight, and the associated toxins caused a massive rush that I couldn’t handle.
Better wait until I’m at my ideal weight before trying something like that again. The true deep cleansing of a water fast, in my opinion, shouldn’t be hampered by layers of fat and toxins which interfere with the detox p ... read more
My Secret Fantasies. 18 y
Making me delirious with an all-consuming desire...
I’m all by myself, alone in my room, and sprawled on a table are tantalizingly sinful objects just waiting to be consumed with relish...
In one corner is a bucket of Kentucky Fried Extra Tasty double-fried chicken, the salty greasy crispiness of its skin that can easily be removed and dunked into the thick pot of gravy right beside it. I want to take the accompanying deep fried crispy french fries and dunk them first in mayonnaise, then in the gravy. I want to feel the texture of the cold mayonnaise invading my mouth after the hot gravy, a combination of salty and sour all at once. ... read more
The binge that never happened. 18 y
Onwards & upwards, as they say.
It started innocently enough with my accompanying my grandmother to her friends house for afternoon tea. I thought that I would just sit there and sip on tea in accordance with my fast and all would be ok.
I arrive at her friend’s house and sat down. The hostess brought out coffee instead which I had to drink. Along with the coffee came two plates of sweets for each guest. Because my grandmother had been complaining for days that I stopped eating at her house, I started to feel some pressure to eat the sweets. I thought to make an excuse - but then at that point she mentioned her f ... read more

It’s now the 13th day I’ve gone withouts solid food and I’m feeling great, pure zen.
The hunger pangs are gone and my body is using up it’s reserves, the way we were meant to live in times of scarcity. I’ve read that most humans in the western world have never experienced ’true’ hunger, just hunger ’pangs’ which aren’t really calls for food but for water. I’m really looking forward to developing that deeper connection with my body, to understand when it really wants nourishment and how it will communicate that to my brain. This, corny as it has always sounded to me, is truly a ’journ ... read more
New Thoughts on the Master Cleanse 18 y
...inspired by a journey to Messageboard Land.
I’ve been gone for a few days attempting the ”Master Cleanse”, spending all my time posting on a message board rather than devoting my thoughts to this dear blog.
Here are some excerpts:
on a theory I heard about hunger pains:
”You know when you work out for the first time after not having exercised at all? You wake up sore the next day, right? Well the stomach is the same thing. You work it out so much, more than needed and when you stop eating it’s sore. That ’soreness’ is being confused with hunger pains.”
on increased sensitive to toxins:
”The more my system cleans out ... read more

...on Day 4 of my Master Cleanse.
So here I am on Day 4 of my Master Cleanse.
Day 1 I was feeling so washed out from the bad eating two days beforehand - eating I didn’t have to do, but was on social calls and used them as an excuse to pig out. This is what I had:
Chocolate
Souvlaki
French Fries
Popcorn
Gross. So on Day 1, I was hardly hungry and felt a little sick so I hardly drank the lemonade. Felt pretty lazy as well and just let laundry pile up, left other chores undone, didn’t even bother working and watched DVD’s.
Day 2 had me doing the SWF in the morning. This experience, plus further research ma ... read more

...and feeling like a hypocrite!
I can’t help it. During my one day Master Cleanse I read and re-read all the information I could to stay motivated throughout the day. It felt so good to feel so light and I slept so well. So if you’ve wondering where I’ve been I’ve been cleansing the past 2 days and didn’t bother writing about it unless I was sure I was in it for the long haul.
Since most people who post on the message boards have nothing to sell, I can only assume that the positive experiences they’re writing about are true. I’ve also intentionally sought out negative messages as well so I know what I’m getting my ... read more
final phase in my beer experiment. 18 y
my lover and I need 'closure' once and for all!
ok the one-day master cleanse went great. today i just ate rice, some carrot salad, and fruit juice. it’s been about 3 hours since i ate and my stomach is emptying out of food, so I’m going to drink some beer to see what happens.
the beer I bought was two small cans of Amstel. Let’s see what happens. I might need to buy a third to get proper accurate results.
I’m probably going to get a little drunk. Who would’ve thought experiments would be so fun?

still not feeling good 18 y
Just want to go back to bed and pull the covers over my head.
Well my progress so far is hardly anything to rave about. I drank the Senna tea last night, and have been feeling nausea ever since. Slept ok, but woke up with a bit of a headache this morning.
Haven’t even bothered making the lemonade yet. Don’t feel like drinking lemonade, don’t even feel like drinking water. Just want to go back to bed and pull the covers over my head. I wish I had a TV so I could watch some talkshows but besides not having a TV, I don’t have cable, and don’t live in a country where talk shows like the ones back home exist.
Sometimes I just want to numb my he ... read more
not feeling so good. 18 y
:- (
Don’t quite understand why I don’t feel well today.
Last night, after a hard day working i call a friend to go for dinner. I ordered a salad with greens and grilled beef (no more than 3-4 ounces) with a pint of beer. Which was then followed by another pint.
By 4 am, I was unable to sleep because of bad gas, stomach pains and nausea. The nausea was making me feel so achy, that I just shoved my fingers down my throat and threw up whatever was left in my stomach so I could sleep.
Woke up this morning with blochiness all over my face, a sore stomach and tons of guilt. The guilt wa ... read more
they say resisting temptation is the true test of character... 18 y
waking up to the reality of what it is i'm trying to do.
now, when i say ’resisting tempatation’, it’s not cause i’m on some cleansing fast or diet per se...i’m just trying to deal with life and the way things are going to be from now on.
today i had the worst craving for french fries. just plain fries with a little salt. at 9pm.
now that’s just about the worst thing you can possibly do to your digestive system, eating starchy foods late in the day. the food sits like a rock in your stomach and prevents you from sleeping. it also slows down any cleansing that might occur during the night.
but i wanted those fries so badly! promisin ... read more
Mucous & Multiple Bowel Movements 18 y
Was it worth it?
Perhaps this morning’s events are a coincidence, that I was ill beforehand and that the Doritos and Beer have no relation to how I feel today. Or maybe I could just admit that last nights activities caused a strong allergic reaction. Read on, and decide for yourself.
Following my mini junk food binge, I fell asleep at my usual time only to wake up this morning with hunger pains. I then proceeded to rise and commence my daily morning duties, when I felt a sudden urge to go to the bathroom. My bowels then proceeded to empty themselves, which is quite unusual as I am accustomed to perf ... read more
Doritos & Beer 18 y
...cause I'm worth it!!!
Well today I had my usual fruits and nuts, and a salad. But a couple hours ago, I got some cravings for junk. So I went to the variety store and, rather than getting some ’compromise’ junk food like unsalted popcorn, I got exactly what I felt like having: Doritos (Tex Mex) and two small cans of beer.
And while I’m trying to feel guilty, I can’t. I don’t think it’s so bad to go ahead and give in to a craving every once and a while, especially since I hadn’t had any junk whatsover during the week.
And let me tell you, those Doritos were so good, especially paired with the beer. And ... read more
Stage 1: Making Progress (November 2, 2006) 18 y
Cutting out the obvious stuff...but what is 'obvious' you may ask? Read on my friend, because the answers may not be as clear as they seem...
Here’s a fundamental breakthrough in my quest to not go to extremes: I’m not giving up coffee and cigarettes. I love them both, and they are my dear companions.
Coffee, with it’s wonderful smell, wakes me up in the morning. And nothing gives the lungs a ticklish delight like the day’s first cigarette. So it’s settled, and that’s where it will stay for the time being.
But that doesn’t mean I can’t make progress, does it? I’ve always read - and wholeheartedly agree - that most manufactured ’foods’ are bad for the health such as those containing flour and refined sugar. In additio ... read more
About the Author 18 y
This is not going to be a short blog, so let me fill you in a few things...
So allow me to introduce myself. My name is ”Athina” and I’m somewhere between 20 and 40 years old and live somewhere between London and Bombay. The music I like ranges from Jazz to Glam Rock, and I’m currently reading two books: a masterpiece of Russian fiction and a computer book on client-side scripting. I know three languages fairly well and like watching documentaries occassionally peppered with trash TV. My life events, as you might suspect, have also been a series of fluctuating extremes.
I think that most eating disorders have psychological roots. I eat to comfort myself, s ... read more

By the way, this is my first blog ever. I’ve read so many blogs on this site and many others. And all seem to form a particular pattern. Let’s see if I got it straight:
1) Blog writer reads about fasting/cleansing in the internet. Blog writer has a history of weight/health problems and feels like this is the solution to their problems.
2) Blog writer prepares for first fast/cleanse, be it a vegetable juice fast, master cleanse fast or raw food diet ... read more
