The several chapters of this book are compiled from material antedating the findings of the Dead Sea Scrolls in 1947. During the twenty preceding years, 1927 to 1947, I wrote and published a number of books on the Essenes based on certain historical sources such as the works of Josephus Flavius, Philo and Plinius, and on manuscripts in the Library of the Vatican, the Library of the ... read more

Animal Eating "Vegetarians" among the Essenes? 17 y
Current Research would like to mount evidence
that the Essenes did not live at Qumran.
What have we to learn from the Essenes?
Why have so many, over the centuries,
been intrigued by the Essenes?
12:45 PM

I have been putting some energy into
Essene writing.
I hope you are finding interest in these Blogs.
They take time to write.
Why are the Essenes important?
Many writers including Edmond Bordeaux Szekely
considered the Essenes a community of vegetarians
who were agricultural masters of their day.
For many writers and intuitives, as well as scholars
over the centuries the Essenes have been a bright light,
Sons of Light. I would say Daughters of Light, as well.
They are noted in many pieces of literature through the
ages, long before the Dea ... read more

Looking for reasons why the
Dead Sea Scroll exhibit downplays the use of the word ”Essene.”
There is an beautifully done video clip
that can be viewed online that describes this world class museum exhibit.
You can see the video clip here:

The video clip calls the inhabitants the ”Sons of Light.”

Location
According to Josephus the Essenes had settled ”not in one city” but ”in large numbers in every town” (War 2.124). Philo speaks of ”more than four thousand” Essaioi living in ”Palestinian Syria” (Quod Omn. Prob. XII.75), more precisely, ”in many cities of Judaea and in many villages and grouped in great societies of many members” (Hyp. 11.1).
Pliny locates them ”on the west side of the Dead Sea, away from the coast ... [above] the town of Engeda”

"...Messianic Apocalypse,

Here is an interesting comment
by Matin Abegg Jr.:
”As a scroll scholar, the recent series of exhibits in North America has been a unique opportunity to see manuscripts in person that are normally stored out of sight in the bowels of the Shrine of the Book in Jerusalem. The exhibits have been of exceptionally high quality, but the care that the San Diego Natural History Museum has taken in both composition and presentation is without par. And now comes a new twist: a second set of scrolls makes its appearance on Oct 15th and remains through December. As keen as I was to see the first ... read more
