I'm getting worried 10 y
Herxheimer reaction or something more serious?
The nausea and diarrhea I can deal with, but I’m having bad shooting pains in my right temple. I’m afraid a cyst has burst in there somewhere, maybe behind my eye. I’m feeling squigglies in my right eye. My top right jaw hurts as if I had an abcessed tooth, my glands on that side are starting to swell, and my shoulder and neck on that side hurt a lot. I don’t want to ignore this. If it doesn’t get any better by this afternoon, I’m going to the emergency room. Better safe than sorry. visit the page
Taking Albendazole: Getting Enough Fat 10 y
Getting enough fat when taking albendazole
I just discovered I measured incorrectly, and I haven’t been eating enough fat with some of my meals. I wonder how much of a difference that makes. Seems that I’ve had 28g of fat instead of 40 with quite a few meals now. I’ll have to find a way to put more fat in without eating more of these foods. I’m going to try drinking coconut milk with meals, which has a lot of fat. I could mix it with my Almond Milk, which doesn’t have much fat at all. I don’t think I could drink 6 ozs. of coconut milk at one time anyway.
After this is over, I’m going on a fat-free diet. I am already beginning t ... read more
Day 14: ICU's Strongyloides Protocol 10 y
Day 14 of ICU's strongyloides protocol.
UPDATE 8:34 AM Very nauseous. Drank coconut milk for my fat, because I don’t feel like I could keep down food. Just had a run of diarrhea, and found something very disturbing on my tissue. It looked just like the tapeworm in this picture, which is a hydatid tapeworm. I’m hoping it’s not, but maybe my being so sick is from a cyst rupturing and releasing all these things into my body. I am taking it easy today. Something serious happened between last night and this morning, and I need to rest up and try to figure out what is going on.

Day 13: ICU's Strongyloides Protocol 10 y
Day 13 of ICU's strongyloides protocol with Ivermectin and Albendazole
Nothing much to report. Choked down some peanut butter toast this morning for my fatty meal. Still a few things coming out of my skin here and there, but nothing noticeable coming out of my gut. Die-off symptoms are now non-existent, unless they’re saving up for later. Took Smooth Move laxative tea yesterday and didn’t see anything unusual in the toilet except a lot of mucus.
I’m sure strongyloides are being killed, and I still feel a few twinges here and there, mostly on my right side. I just feel like if I have anything other than the strongyloides, they are long-since dead and gone, ... read more
Day 12: Skip Days for Ivermectin 10 y
Day 11 of ICU strongyloides protocol.
Today and tomorrow are break days for Ivermectin, which is good, because sometimes I have to stay up very late at night to wait two hours after the fatty meal so I can take it on an empty stomach. Timing the food intake has been a challenge.
Last night, I had to take Naproxen because of the intense shooting pains in my left knee and the biting shooting pains in my gut. The biting pain was unusual, because it didn’t move like something that had been dislodged and was trying to grab hold. It feel like something was trying to bore its way out, which it well may have been, depending on what ... read more

Nothing exciting in the poop report today. Thought I had something, but then I remembered I ate a mango yesterday, so all that fiber was probably that. I did see a large piece of flat, papery material, but no segments, so probably not tapeworm.
Have felt stinging as they exit my skin and pinching/biting in my gut. Took laxative tea last night, trying to get as much out as possible.
Everything I read says Albendazole takes a few d ... read more
Day 10: Strange reaction from the Albendazole 10 y
Day 10 of ICU's Strongyloides Protocol: Day 2 of Albendazole.
Took my first dose of ABZ last night and a second dose this morning. I’m already starting to feel the effects, or the worms are. I’m having lots of little ”stings” where they are coming out of my skin, and lots of pinching in the gut. Lots of itching, but don’t know if that’s caused by them dying or just a reaction to the drugs. Last night, about an hour after I took my first does, I felt actual writing in my gut, which makes me believe I do have Ascaris.
But the strangest thing so far is what just happened. I felt a sharp pain under my right arm and went to look in the mirror. There w ... read more
Set Up My Calendar Tonight 10 y
Setting up calendar for treatment schedule.
I set up my reminders on ReminderFox for all my doses and start/stop times for the next 5 weeks. Since I started Ivermectin a week early, I’m ending it a week before I end the Albendazole and go on the weekly schedule.
I’m doing the 2 days on, 2 days off of Ivermectin and the twice daily of Albendazole. The whole shebang winds up on March 18.
Still having shooting pains in my sinuses, right above my right eye and in my left temple, but very seldom now. I figure something is just trying to escape. My right eye still doesn’t feel right, and a lot of frass came out of it this morning. ... read more

Day 9: ICU's Strongyloides Protocol
Personal obligations make it impossible for me to take the ABZ exactly 12 hours apart, so I’ll start tomorrow. UPDATE: Decided to start tonight with one dose, then start 2/day tomorrow.
ICU: Is this a hard-and-fast rule, because it is difficult for me sometimes to do this. If not, how far off can it be? Can you take it early (fewer than 12 hours)? visit the page
Day 8: Rough Night, Not Feeling Well Today 10 y
Day 8: ICU's strongyloides protocol
I had a rough night. Lots of pains in different places. Shooting pains in my sinus over my right eye, pain in my left shoulder, but the worst was the burning pain in my left calf, right ankle and both feet. I ended up taking Aleve to be able to sleep. Woke up feeling bad, so I’m going to skip today and start back tomorrow.
Nothing exciting to report in the poop department. I think now it’s working in the muscles. Had a rather large hole open up on my left upper arm around the time my shoulder started hurting, so it’s reached them there. Strangest part is that it was an old exit wound t ... read more
Healing My Body After the Battle is Over 10 y
Ways I intend to heal my gut after my parasite cleanse.
I looked at a video on YouTube of a massive strongyloides infestation found by a colonoscopy, and I imagine that’s probably what my colon looks like. It will take a lot of healing with good food and herbal medicine to get it back in shape after the worms are gone.
I’m doing research now on foods to heal your digestive system, although I know these things have affected my entire body. It will likely take years to get completely healed.
I’m going to start out with a month of soft foods and fermented dairy, like yogurt, buttermilk and kefir. These will rebuild the beneficial bacteria. ... read more
Day 7: ICU's Strongyloides Protocol - Ivermectin 10 y
Day 7 of ICU's Strongyloides Protocol - Ivermectin.
Not much to say today, except for some aches and pains on my right side. Still lots of tiny, thin worms, but not as many as yesterday. I wonder if they’ll ever stop coming out. Tonight is my last dose of the 7 days, then I start the Albendazole tomorrow and take a two day break from the Ivermectin. After two days on ABZ, I do the Iver 2 on, 2 off until the end.
It hasn’t been too rough; better than I expected. No more squiggling in my right eye, but I can tell there is still something in it. Still have wormy mucus coming out of my nose, but not as much. Nothing coming out of my skin, at ... read more
Day 6: ICU Strongyloides Protocol 10 y
Day 6 of ICU's strongyloides protocol with Ivermectin only
I stayed up late and took the Ivermecting dosage last night. Today, I have very loose stools due to drinking so many liquids yesterday, and what came out of me is really strange. It’s like they are hairballs, but when you pull them apart, they are about 2-4 inches long, very thin threadlike worms that form balls. I think this must be some stage of ropeworm, because of the way they are tangled together. I’d think I was swallowing cat hair if they weren’t so long, because my cat does sleep with me. They could be immature cat roundworm, but these are so thin, like the size of thread, and too ... read more
Forgot not to eat tonight 10 y
forgot to take my ivermectin
I didn’t eat a lot, but my roommate came home with ice cream and then I ate some peanuts. I’m going to stay up as late as I can, because I need two hours without eating, but it’s almost 10:30 now and I’m soooo sleepy. I may just have to take the Iver anyway and hope for the best, or take it first thing in the morning, but I don’t want to take it twice in one day, although a double dose wouldn’t hurt me much. They give double the dose I’m taking for river blindness treatment, so it’s safe, and the doses would be more than 12 hours apart. visit the page
Day 5: ICU's Strongyloides Protocol 10 y
Day 5 of ICU's strongyloides protocol - 4th dose of Ivermectin
Woke up this morning feeling like crap. My right neck and shoulder were hurting a lot, and my nose was running like mad. Still having pain in my right side under my rib cage and lower back. I imagine the pain under the rib cage is my gallbladder being cleared of parasites, and the lower pain may be kidney related. I was diagnosed with spongy kidney on the right side years ago, and I truly feel it’s because the parasites have eaten it alive.
About an hour after I take the Ivermectin at night, just as it hits my colon, I get the biting pains. Last night there were quite a few all at once ... read more
Day 4: ICU's Strongyloides Protocol 10 y
Day 4 of ICU's strongyloides protocol.
I am using ICU’s strongyloides protocol with one difference: on the advice of a tropical disease nurse, I am taking the Ivermectin for 7 days before I add the Albendazole. Then I will do the Ivermectin 2 days on, 2 days off.

Welcome to my Blog 10 y
A journey to health and vitality while living with chronic illness.
2014 is the year I change my life. I have been allowing myself to suffer from chronic illness and parasitism for years, and this is the year I fight back with everything I have.
I have lupus and all that goes along with it: chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, brain fog, thyroid problems, kidney problems and more. I also have a strongyloides stercoralis infection, which will be with me all my life. These two may not be curable, but they are treatable.
This year, I am changing everything from diet to exercise to treatment methods. I’m not giving up on natural treatments for my strongyloides ... read more
