By AHarleyGyrl A few years ago, I was walking through my living room and briefly heard on the tv that juicing was not natural, that fruit didn't come in the form of juice and that it was very hard on our body to process. It's like a light went off! I began studying this. It made perfect sense, apples and oranges come as a fruit, not a juice. It is made that way on purpose. Not only is the skin of vegetables and fruits and it's pulp, filled with fiber to protect our colon, but the skin (or just under it or the leaves) contains the highest amount of nutrients. And, skins are also very high in fiber, themselves. The Centre for Food Safety, Hong Kong, found in a recent study that nearly all the dietary fiber in fruits such as orange, watermelon, mango and pear was lost in their juices. According to literature, the amount of dietary fiber in juices is also much less than that in whole fruits. In removing this fiber, it also allows for a quick consumption of many calories.
I had a juice machine, I bought it years ago when I saw an infomercial of the Juiceman. He did cure himself of liver cancer with juice, but he also at a lot of the fiber too, and he was also getting a lot more nutrition that he had been prior. It's no doubt that juice has some nutrition, I just learned it isn't ideal and it is very hard on the digestive system. I also remembered that the doctor who invented the cure for cancer (www.alivizatos.com) told my Aunt and Uncle when they were in Greece, the three things to avoid is acid salt and alcohol, and he said do not drink juice, as it was way too much acid and our bodies cannot handle it. Thus, I tossed my juicer. I immediately bought a blender, and I've been blending ever since. So now it is smoothies for me. I use almond milk or rice milk as the base in a lot of them. You can throw very healthy stuff in there, too, like unprocessed coconut oil, walnuts, pure cocoa powder, etc....
...fruit juice is not the best way to consume a fruit. It is typically better to consume the whole fruit

im not buying it. I can understand fruit juicing might have some negative effects, and is unnatural. Vegetable juicing though, is something completely different if you ask me.
Im of the opinion plant minerals are extremely important, especially because its probably the best absorbed form, or might i even say the only absorbed form

Myself i think fruit and vegetables are both crucially important to good health. My mom was telling me that saliva plays an extremely important role when we eat . Digestion begins in the mouth, when we chew and swallow. The glands that act first are in the mouth, the salivary glands. Saliva produced by these glands contains an enzyme that begins to digest the starch from food into smaller molecules. My mom pointed out that when we take a whole food and juice it, we do not get the benefit of those digestive enzymes. While some believe juicing is helping the body out by doing a process for it, others believe it is an unnatural act that actually harms the body. If I drink fruit or vegetables, they will not come from a juicer, but rather, a blender.

yes, sorry, i didnt read your whole post. ok, difference between blending and juicing. i can sort of understand that.
i would say though vegetable juicing is still better then eating poor quality (not the complete grain) grains, pasturized dairy, etc.. it might even depend on the person (or maybe thats talking out of my ass) what would be more beneficial. some people seem to have great results using juicing
