I have watched all the news programs.  It seems many say Paris Hilton is being made an example of and that no one else would have had a 45 day sentence.  I also heard when she yelled, "This isn't fair!", it was in reference to not being allowed to hug her mother.  Personally, I think house arrest would have been sufficient.  Jail is no place for a young woman when there are more severe criminals out there.  I know she is rich, but if she is stuck up, it is her parents fault.  She told her lawyers not to appeal her sentence, that she would try to serve it.  Yes, she did wrong, but to punish her more than non-celebrities would have been punished seems wrong to me.  There is a whole website dedicated to freeing Paris.  But, are they capitalizing on this, or do they really care?  I don't know.

It's sad that because of her flamboyant ways in the media, she'll never have real friends to tell her calm herself down. It's tough to know who your friends are at that level of wealth.

its all %¤#&!§-, whole media stuff surrounding her. ok, she is rich, ok she likes to make private porn video's and might just have on purpose (or not) have them float around on the internet. but there are alot more people who do that

actually, when i see her video's and see her on the television, i never had a bad vibe about her. she seems to be quite honest and herself, really.

yeah, on Larry King, they had one of her friends who said Paris is not like that, she's very nice and kind, etc....  she said she threw a party for her son's birthday and that she does many nice things like that and know one knows about them.  so, i guess she has some friends, but this gal looked pretty stuck up, so it didn't impress me that much.  I think the media and the parents and ancestors have created a gal that seems to like to shop and party and sell perfume and junk like that.  I think you have to blame our society as much as Paris and her family, because we allow it and glorify her and her type.  And, men really like her.  I don't think they should have given her a harsher sentence than they would others.  They say if it had been a gang-banger or repeat offender, etc..., they'd have not locked them up.  so, i don't really like a double standard.  Paris is certainly no mother theresa, but our society keeps her built up and famous.  i think more men do it than women.

Paris got what was coming to her. She was caught drunk driving and then caught two additional times driving on a suspended license. You or me would have been in jail as well. It is sad, only because she has never been accountable for anything in her life. She has never had to do an honest days work, and she thinks she is above the judicial system. Why else all the drama over what will be three weeks in a solitary guarded cell where no harm can befall her? She is a big manipulator. Here is part of her statement since going back to jail:
"I must also say that I was shocked to see all of the attention devoted to the amount of time I would spend in jail for what I had done by the media, public and city officials.I would hope going forward that the public and the media will focus on more important things like the men and women serving our country in Iraq and other places around the world."
WHAT A JOKE!!!! This from a woman who thrives on publicity and complains when she doesn't get it. Here whole life exists via media manipulation. Hopefully from here on out people will just pay her no attention and let her go back to the only thing she does well - chewing bubble gum while walking.

no, i doubt we will stop paying attention to her. in fact, they say this will boost her career, that she will be doing a book deal that will give her 1 or 2 million and she have other offers because of this.  our society loves this sort of junk, and i think it is ridiculous.  i guess people need this kind of entertainment.  it's been going on for years.  when i was a kid, the national enquirer was huge.

for making the worst celebrity sex tape ever. I've see more enthusiasm in actuarial lectures.

On the driving, she probably got shafted.

i just changed my mind. i saw judge judy and she said she would have put her in kail. so, that is good enough for me. she said if we don't, it teaches us that the criminal justice system is unfair. but, she never said how much time she would give her. i think the big argument is that she got more time than other repeat criminals would have gotten. so, the 45 day sentence or whatever was a little extreme for the crime.

              • I was watching Larry King Tonight...   by  Aharleygyrl     17 y     1,016

When it was pre-empted by the CNN live coverage of Paris getting out of jail. I have heard many complaints lately that we as a society have a huge interest in Celebrities lives and all the gossip. I have heard that CNN and news stations and now going after these type of stories, whereas they did not used to, because they pull in excellent ratings. In turn, they can sell more advertising space and make more money. The ignorant general public become pawns as the rich get richer. Some would say, no harm, everyone wins. But, I think it devalues humans and society as a whole. The old labor/capitalistic argument, does society create the need, or does the need create society...I believe in this case, society creates the need. In other words, If CNN and other networks did not publicize the antics of the Celebs, we would not have a need to see them.
