  • Food Obsession   by  peanut74     18 y     3,878       6 Messages Shown       Blog: Master Cleanse for Mind and Body

I've been hungry for a couple of days and constantly thinking about food but today I took my food obsession too far.  It is funny how I could take it or leave is just three days ago but now food is all I think about, the texture, the smell, the nutrients. Ugh

So I dropped by the Yakima Fruit Stand on my way home (I only worked 9 1/2 hours today - Yippee!!).  I was supposed to pick up lemons and limes as I do twice a week.  It should have been no big deal.

Instead I bought every veggie that looked like it could possibly be added to a soup (which I'm not making for almost a week).  In fact I bought food that doesn't even go together.  You may get a kick out of the weird combination. Here's the breakdown:

    • Fresh Cayenne Peppers

    • Zucchini

    • Cauliflower

    • Broccoli

    • Carrots

    • White Mushrooms

    • Celery

    • Ginger

    • Garlic

    • Cilantro

    • Radishes

    • Red Onion

    • Yams

Okay it isn't so weird except the cilantro and yams.  Can you put zucchini in a soup?  I hope this stuff doesn't go bad before I get to eat it.  I really wanted to rush to the kitchen and start prepping my veggies so having them in the house is a BAD idea.  Instead I will lovingly scrub each item and put it in the fridge.

    Wish me luck,
    Peanut

    • an idea?   by  missnook     18 y     1,532
      Peanut,
I broke my fast last night after a few days. Have not been hungry today, drinking lemonade. No excuses... just learning lessons... no being disappointed in myself... lessons learned. Continue on from here. You have really accomplished a new plateau in life. I see life as a bell curve. In the beginning of your fast, you endured the cravings. Now, you are close to the end and the cravings have returned. Try not to end this fast fretting and worrying. Embrace your new place in life... you earned it. Go to a quiet place and listen to the voice within for the answer to your question. Be at peace with your decision. Either way, zuccini keeps quite well in fridge. Be well. Colleen

Thanks, MissNook, for the support. You are right we're both in a journey of self knowledge as well as health. There will be ups and downs but it's all part of the learning. It is good to be reminded of that. I know I can do this. I'm so close and will regret it if I mess it up.

On a lighter note, after I posted my message, I went up to the kitchen, cleaned and chopped 3 bunches of radishes since I know they do well in water. While chopping I decided that I bought such large quantities that it might take me a week just to prep it anyway. Tomorrow I'm working on the two bunches of celery. Maybe I will just use this as a way to remind myself that I've almost finished my goal.

I love to cook. I think the idea of making the soup may be more exciting to me than actually eating it. The fact that the good solid veggies I bought will take a long time to cook works to my advantage too.

        Thanks again,
        Peanut

    • Suddenly I'm not hungry   by  peanut74     18 y     1,512
Okay so this is really weird but I've been looking over my awaiting veggies and suddenly I'm not hungry anymore. Really, I'm planning and thinking of food but for the first time in three days my stomach isn't growling. It's as if knowing it is waiting there for me actually took some of the wanting away. This tells me this is all mental (or mostly anyway) so I have no reason to end my fast early.

      What good news!
      Peanut

PS I think I'm getting stranger each day, wonder what I'll be like in, say, 20 years then? :)

Okay I have a day and a half until I get to eat soup broth. So far I've chopped half of my veggies. The cut broccoli, cauliflower, radishes, carrots, and celery are getting as impatient as I am. Together we are cheering for OJ day to get here.

      Silly as always,
      Peanut
