The fifth house is creativity and good fortune and I have the critic archetype there. This is another combination that I don't understand yet, so it will take more pondering.
Another dream: we were camping and I was ready to get in my sleeping bag and I wanted to check inside to see if there was something in it. I found a large spider and as I tried to scoop it away, then it fell outside the bag and there were lots of other big spiders too.
Here's the interpretation of the spider dream: To see a spider in your dream, indicates that you are feeling like an outsider in some situation. Or that you may want to keep your distance and stay away from an alluring and tempting situation. The spider is also symbolic of feminine power. Alternatively, a spider may refer to a powerful force protecting you against your self-destructive behavior.
To see a sleeping bag in your dream, represents warmth and protection. You are expressing a desire to slowly explore the realm of your unconscious.
Hmmm. So seeing a spider in the sleeping bag? Exploring the feminine power in my unconscious?

hi,
i am glad you are continuing with the carolyn myss archetype adventure. i should look further into that, i really like her.
as for your dream, well its interesting. i find it of note that you shared the dream in the same blog entry as discussing your inner critic. coincidence? i tend not to use dream books but use logic and intuition to approach dreams. what i am seeing is this - the sleeping bag is supposed to be a warm, safe, restful place. but you found creepy crawlies in yours, not just one either. maybe in this instnace your sleeping bag represents your self, your mind, your heart. the spiders could represent an "infestation" of critical notions and ideas that live inside your mind and constantly nit pick and build webs of guilt and sticky condemnation in which your healthy self image keeps getting caught up in. you finding the spiders and gettig them out of the bag may indicate you are now addressing the destructive nature of your inner critic and cleaning out the negativity that exists there.
i am glad you are beginning this process, it is well worth the effort. of course the inner critic does serve a purpose, it can be a healthy voice, it just needs to be balanced is all.

Well, that's all possible too. I have struggled with a snobbish critical nature that even tho I didn't say or do anything overtly snobbish or critical, it was still in my thoughts and feelings. I'm much better at changing the inside and feeling more equal, humble and compassionate.
I also agree with the idea of spiders as being the feminine power symbol. I am working right now more vigorously on the relationship with my DH and so these thoughts I'm sure are working in my unconscious too.
