Just Play Along ok ?
What this world need now is for people to stand up for what is right.
The BP spill was caused by having everyone so cowed that nobody would say anything about the risky way they were drilling that well. 11 of them lost their lives because of it - if they would have demanded that things be done right they would have either have avoided the accident, or been fired [and sent to shore], in which case they would still be alive. And the oil might not be fouling the Gulf Coast and turning the oceans into a bubbling cesspool.
"Just play along" is something we heard, or did, as teenagers. Maybe that goes on in 5 year olds now, too, I don't know. As adults we are capable of so much more than that, but many adults don't seem to have caught on to the idea of having a sense of duty to the truth, or for what is right, or to do the right thing.
Matt and Ann and Al, that famous morning news team, are so willing to play along that I saw them pretending to have magic wands this morning - "the wand chooses you, not the other way around" - for the opening of an amusement park. That pretty well sums it up - nothing too cheap or childish for the nation's newspeople, entrusted to tell us the truth, but pretending to have magic powers from a cheap plastic wand ["on sale now at your local retailer"].
But it is not just them, it is everywhere today. We must have learned from Matt and Ann and Al. Perhaps you have heard the term "sheeple".
Words like scruples, or duty, having a conscience, acting in accordance with your morals, and ethics - those are words that Matt and Ann and Natalie and Al, and the whole crew of the BP Horizon, had all given up in favor of "playing along".
A healthy dose of sceptism, suspicion, seems to be what we need now.
Do they know when they are "being used"?
Do you/they/we even know when you/they/we are in a quandry, or that there is a choice to be made?
Or, is it better to allways just accept, agree, consent? Maybe you have felt the pressure to conform - "Just play along, ok? - because otherwise everyone will see you are a sore thumb." ; "You should do what you are told." ; "Don't bite the hand that feeds you."
"Don't bite the hand that FEEDS you"? - doesn't that hint at slavery? Who ARE you people? Whats going on?? Where are your scruples?
Here is the message we are hearing: "If all the role models on TV and in real life are successfull people, and if they all have to show how willing they are to embarress themselves in front of the whole world, then maybe that is what I have to do in order to be successfull. And we all know that being successfull is the whole point to life."
- NOT!! [not if you have any sense of self left...] Some things are more important than carreer success.
We see gangs of schoolkids, each and every one of them feeling the power of the many but having to give up any sense of self to be in the gang. Gangs are all about giving up your individuality, abandoning the belief that you can stand up on your own two feet, inflating the ego at the expense of the self... and when you do that you lose the ego too.
To some people, the people who have scruples, success is about knowing yourself, and then being yourself. Courage is often about doing the right thing, even when everybody else is "just playing along".
Come on, join us. We won't do something just for the money. We are willing to get fired and tell the truth - or are you so trapped in debt that you "cannot afford to be morally intact"? Watch out for that one.

Well as far as slavery most people were committed to one form or another years ago; debt being just one common method...
Second it would be better to use less oil; but we are not that near that stage yet! No matter which President said it! Plus going to Battery cars will not really change things as it only moves the pollution from your drive way to a coal belching power plant somewhere else... BTW; Having worked with battery back up systems for over thirty years; lets help you understand the costs (now about $1K per KW of battery), the electrical dangers, the chemical dangers, the added weight to the cars, the added pollution control in disposal, or the fact the one thing a battery hates is both "Heat & Motion" which are present in cars... HUH!!
Maybe you think this was just made up to scar you; check it out and if you can accept the truth, then maybe it will become clear to you! I have only been working with this stuff for over thirty years, but what do I know?
As to TV or any other group being any role models; from the little I see, they are just the front of a image that the world systems wants you (most people) to accept!
Having worked on off shore oil rigs in the Gulf; and subscribing to Offshore Engineering; the real problem is not so much the use of equipment or the company {BTW: We were on Marathon Oil Rigs} rather it is more the fact that political restrictions have set up this house of cards... Mainly the fact that they have restricted the closer in shore shallow drilling, which would be safer, and easy to control, plus cost less to extract the oil...
But hey, who cares about making it safer and easy? Not the Government?
Good over view but short on the real facts...
