Don't give up hope! Do find a chinese medicine or naturpathic practitioner that you trust. I haven't tried a gallbladder cleanse, but from what I can gather it's not always a one-off success story - but rather a longer process of changing diet and habits, taking supplements etc etc etc. My sister referred me to this website jchang@sensiblehealth.com. Julia Chang seems to know all about the pros and cons of chinese medicine and gallbladder cleansing etc. Do check it out, if you haven't already discovered it. I showed her article to my chinese Dr, and he said that for me, he didn't recommend a gallbladder cleanse. So I'm going to put my trust in his herbs for 6-12 months and see if that will do the trick. I have terrible period pains and often feel lethargic and foggy-headed. About 3 months ago I started doing some Chinese exercises from Dr Stephen Chang's "The Complete System of Chinese Self-Healing" book. I noticed a big improvement in clarity of thinking, mood and energy levels straight away. Then I went on the chinese herbs for 6-8 weeks. Energy levels were amazing! I felt like I was really alive after years of being half-dead - it was the best I could ever remember feeling. Because I was doing so well, the Dr suggested I cut out the herbs and see if the exercises were sufficient to heal my body. Sadly, I've discovered they are not, as I feel more ordinary again. Also period pains got worse again (after improving on the herbs). So I'm going back on the herbs - for sure! I know its a long journey ahead of me towards optimum health, but I have faith I'll get there. I know now that's it possible to feel so much better - and that's inspiring.

Good luck Blueduck! Trust in your own journey and process. You'll get there. Just be committed.
