Thanks so much you guys.

Yes. I mean it. Thank you bci and thepodfather. I am a high anxiety person; and your detailed explanation has been a blessing.

I just now got back from my right inguinal hernia operation (Halloween). I'm so impressed with the whole process. Everyone that talked to me said that the surgeon is great. I believe it. Of course, these first few hours find me in quite a bit of pain. The surgeon prescribed Hydrocodone pain pills. 30 of them. At least they were only $11. Unlike that 10 day dose or those stinking Antibiotics (that worked though) for $147. He said, "Don't play macho with this. Take those pain pills. At least the first few days". He told me not to take a shower until tomorrow after removing the outer bandage.

The nurses were so very helpful and comforting. They were careful to tell me what the procedure would be in great detail. The anesthesiologist met with me to explain his procedure. He asked why I had so much trouble with anesthesia before. I told him that I had a deviated septum about 32 years ago. That I came to during the procedure enough to hear the conversation and feel what the surgeon was doing. At that time, I started to choke on my blood and saliva and could not swallow. I said they put me way under quickly and apologized the next morning. This one said no such thing with this procedure. A nurse came in to give me an initial IV. Later, she came back to give me some real stuff. I was out before I was wheel out the door to go to the operating room. I only remember when they said they were moving me off of the stretcher. After that, BLANK empty mind. I was told the surgeon would numb me at the spot. That's all I remember. The anesthesia was so light that I was awake very soon after the surgery.

Now, I just have to relax. I don't think I will have any Trick or Treaters. I probably won't be able to get out of the chair. The process started at 5:30 AM. I was out of the hospital in 4 hours.

My insurance is a $5000 deductible. The surgery was $9100. I'll owe $4800. UGH! At least this is over.
