Severe burn pain during dressing change
Severe burns cleaning and dressing change. Anyone know how a survivor burnt to over 80% of body 3 months survived awake now and in excruciating pain during dressing change. Does anyone know what trials are out there to help?

My son is 2 years old and suffered partial 2nd degree burns on 20% of his body 6 days ago. He was treated with debridement, a silver foam/compression dressing. The doctor stated that the foam is good in place for 7 days and just to change out the compression gauze. I have been doing what is ordered and everything seems to be progressing smoothly, but he has an odd smell coming from the areas. Not foul, but if you are close to him you can smell it. Kind of like a copper/sweaty/stale smell. Is this normal? The drainage is of normal color. We did speak to the physician who did the debreidment and is over looking his care on the phone, he says my son has no indicators of infection. He has an appointment tomorrow to assess what Should be done as far as further debridement. Anyway, I was wondering if a smell can come from burns just as a healing process? How can I wash his hair if he has burns on his neck and close to his ear? I'm so lost as to how to deal with this, he's my son and this is the first time he has even been ill in any way. Can anyone help me out here?

I am trying to find out if oil or oreganol would have interactions with the drug Bactrim? Can anyone on this board help me or is there a place I can go to find this kind of information? I can find all kinds of drug interactions sites but nothing about alternative medicines interactions with drugs.

I have spoken to someone recently who suffered third degree burns which has left her with a very high internal temperature, especially whenever she tries to go out on hot days. She found this great cold pack which she wraps around her core and it helps her get her internal temperature down when she goes out and about. I thought this was a wonderful idea so I wanted to post this to give others the idea in hopes to provide some cooling and relief on these hot summer days. I took off a highly suspected mast cell tumor off my dog Sandy's ear with black salve from 'best products on earth'.....which works very well and heals fast tho it may scare you in the middle of the process.

anyway, Sandy was left with a raw place the size of a golf ball [proper use of black salve is problematic on a dog because it should be left alone and bandaged for 2-3 weeks---dogs are very inventive on getting a bandage off and scratching area even with a cone on head]

I got some medical manuka honey [be careful there all manuka is not medical it is a potentcy deal].

in a matter of days its almost healed....dabbing a small amount on 2x day.....I am really amazed.

I got manukaguard medical manuka honey but there are many other brands.

8 oz is going to last me a LONG time for me and Sandy.

My brother asked me to share this.

He got rid of welding burns he had a year later by mixing basing soda with water into a paste and applying to the burns leaving on between 2-3 hours to overnight. If necessary, repeat. he also called these radiation burns.

It took all the redness out.
