Thank you tremendously for your present article, Liz!
IMO - this could serve as the opening address to virtually any gathering of like-minded freedom-loving Americans who wish to actualize food security in their community.
Your article speaks to eternal flame of my American Spirit and especially in regards to the American farmers whom i consider to be most close to the fountainhead of the spirit of Independence that inspired the American people to sever their dependency on British government.
i think the following exemplifies what i'm referring to:
"Of the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence, historians list as many as 9 as 'farmers'. The National Archives, however, lists only one with that occupation – John Morton of Pennsylvania.
There were several plantation owners and landowners, but only Morton fit their definition. Other biographers include Abraham Clark and John Hart, both from New Jersey, as farmers.
Hart ... could also be categorized as one of the Founding Fathers who gave virtually all for the cause of independence. For example, two of his sons were captured by the British Navy, beaten, tortured and starved in a futile attempt to force Hart to recant his signing the Declaration.
When Washington retreated across New Jersey in December 1776, the British and Hessians ravaged Hart’s farm and forced him to flee from his wife’s deathbed. He spent months hiding in the woods and caves of the Sourwood mountains with his two youngest children.
The American victories at Trenton and Princeton and the ensuing withdrawal of British forces allowed him to return and begin rebuilding his life and farm. He remained active in New Jersey politics. In 1778 he invited the American army to camp at his farm from which they went on to win the Battle of Monmouth.
By this time, in his sixties, his hardships, coupled with the effort to rebuild, had taken a toll on his health. He died from kidney stones after painful months of illness. Hart was aware from the beginning of the price his signature could require, and nonetheless voted for independence with 'unusual zeal', in his own words.
Patriotism was more than a political buzzword for him, and as the document he gave so much for stated, he freely pledged his life, his fortune, and his sacred honor. Then he backed up those promises as few others have done. That he was a farmer brings honor and significance to our profession on this special holiday.":

Food Security IMO is the number one issue in: "The United States of America" (unincorporated) and if wanted i could elaborate on this however it's apparent to me that you already know this! I only say this because I realize that more people need to become aware of the magnitude of importance for Food Security throughout every local community. It seems to me that as long as people can go to the markets and/or order food online that this illusion of food security dulls the cognizant factors needed to see through the illusion. i appreciate your excellent efforts to possibly penetrate the dullness! And in possibly in support of your efforts i wish to know how your message may possibly be presented live before the people whom i refer to in my first paragraph above.

April 22, 2024 - "Shepherds" In The Bible -
There are at least 95 verses in the Old Testament regarding "Shepherds" plus another 23 in the new testament - (a possible research project in the making!).
In either the "Old" or the "New" - the environments (all-inclusively speaking) for shepherding over 2,000 years ago are not the environments that we have today - at least not in places like San Diego, California. There are a number of additional considerations and needs that exist today and these additional needs require additional support. Possibly the main reason for this is that shepherding today (at least with "Good Shepherds") is actually a collaborative of shepherding and one that needs to be supported by community. However both "collaboration" and "community" need to be defined and reintegrated in society in order for people to relate to these needs and especially in the new relationship with "an ecological approach" to land stewardship that is being pioneered now!

July 10, 2022 - “Good Shepherds Seek Home Pasture”[2]
Transcript:
A local group has been making headlines with an ecological approach to fire prevention:
Good Shepherd's Regenerative Land Management employs a herd of goats and sheep to clear defensible space, sequester carbon and activate soil biology on private and public property
throughout San Diego County.
After a year of non-stop nomadic work the good shepherds are ready to establish a permanent home base with 140 grazing animals three dogs, one cat and six humans they need access to a minimum of 60 acres of grassland and five acres of dedicated residential and operating space.
Although some of the crew both two-legged and four-legged will be stationed off-site on rotating job contracts a dedicated home pasture provides vital security for the shepherds
while serving a valuable purpose in the community.
Rediscover a healthy tree canopy and the enjoyment of park-like settings in areas that are otherwise overgrown and at risk for hot fires.
Properly managed grazing encourages perennial grasses that retain moisture and prevent erosion.
The animals also provide organic milk and dairy products.(! ; ~ )
With an eye toward holistic wellness and education the good shepherds model many aspects of a sustainable village in the way they live and work and while usable structures such as barns or houses are ideal all they really need is water.
