I honor the Naked Lady Flower too, Ximena Vera.
I was on a trip to Northern California for six weeks.
The Naked Lady Flower was growing everywhere we visited from
Patricia Bragg’s
Bragg Live Food Products home outside Goleta to the land where Adrienne Prince and I camped in Sebastopol. Turns out Luther Burbank Home & Gardens also had a stand of it; the master horticulturist was intrigued by its genetics and made some varieties that grew differently.
On our trip it was the most consistent flower cheerleader we had, stands of the flower showing up to cheerlead us on.
We brought home two bulbs, the first gathered from the Frey Organic Winery land, and the second from Patricia’s land in Goleta.
The two bulbs went into the same pot I keep on my back porch.
The day we arrived at Terra Madre Gardens for an autumn equinox celebration, healer Ximena Vera gave a talk. She singled out the Naked Lady flower.
