The Healing of the Earth That Animals Can Bring
"Grazing on Grasslands 101" - Featuring Allen Savory & Nicolette Hahn-Niman - "... revitalizing grassland ecosystems, and how this is one of the keys to reversing the damage we’ve done to the soils of the world."

Price Foundation was the new understanding I received about animal husbandry and most especially farm animals. Learning the difference between the conventional "factory farming" approach in raising farm animals and a truly holistic & sustainable systems approach (as originally presented by Biodynamic Agriculture and later by Permaculture Design) provided me with a healing "thought reversal" that resolved the controversies and arguments I had become aware of against animal products and/or against anything other than a vegan diet. This reolution has given me a deep peace and increased appreciatio for all farmers and ranchers who carry the actual day-to-day burdens of carrying for animals and their impact on the land. Once you understand the symbiotic relationships that animals naturally have with their environmnet then you can think about the wonderful restoration and healing of the earth that animals can bring when they receive the proper husbandry! There is so much more that can be said about this and fortunately there are people who can say it better than I can (at this time)!
Here's about two weeks advance notice of a one-day event in Northern California that may appeal to "anyone interested in how to approach the land available to us thoughtfully and sustainably."

Soul Food Farm is proud to announce our new educational outreach program, FarmSchool. Our mission is to share information being discovered throughout the world about sustainable farming and the importance of rich, viable soil. We will be offering a new lecture series to facilitate these discussions.
Our first event will be a great one. The program, FarmSchool: Grazing on Grasslands 101, will bring together two powerful voices in the field of holistic management and sustainable farming. Allan Savory and Nicolette Hahn-Niman will come to Soul Food Farm to share their message of hope for the environment.
Allan Savory, founder of the Savory Institute, will speak about the importance of revitalizing grassland ecosystems, and how this is one of the keys to reversing the damage we’ve done to the soils of the world. Nicolette Hahn-Niman, author, environmental attorney and rancher, will speak about cattle grazing and its role in reversing the damage caused by industrial livestock production. Her newest book, Defending Beef, offers a compelling argument about the role proper cattle ranching plays in healthy air, soil and water.
The topics that Allan and Nicolette will be discussing are relevant to anyone interested in how to approach the land available to us thoughtfully and sustainably. Their books are thought-provoking and accessible to all. Whether you make a living from your land, raise your own livestock, or are just interested in using resources more consciously, this event will leave an impression and inspire a call to action.
Tickets are available through http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/1117550
... Please share with your friends and colleagues to spread the word about the first of our new lecture series.
We can’t wait to welcome you to the farm and to our future.
