Is is possible he is dealing with a neurological infection of some sort?

Tick-borne diseases for one can cause these symptoms.

Is he taking olive leaf and oregano oil? Perhaps an aggressive regimen noted in Cass Inrams book (oregano) and the book by Dr. Walker (olive leaf extract)..
if anti-bacterial herbal therapy brings response, it could mean an infection that got out of control.

I do believe all disease states stem from organ dysfunction and morbid matters, however, if an infection in the central nervous system got a foothold before the body was corected (all organs flowing in the right direction)..I also believe one may need anti-microbial therapy. (for which the oo and ol have allot of potential to fight)...and continued organ health is also a must as toxins are released from die off.

The brain is an enclosed cavity, so simply fasting, or anti-microbial treatment that is not effective or aggressive enough may allow for sequestered infection.

Also - just a possibility.
