It does teach you how to do the cleanse and why you should do it. It is the source of a lot of those icky photos you see of mucoid plaque, and has some great testimonials in it too. As far as I can remember Dr Jensen does mention a vegetable broth product of his at some point, which is not actually a part of the cleanse, but all the ingredients of the cleanse are not his products. He mentions various different brand names of products he likes though. I don't feel this book is in any way a sales pitch like many are. Another point to bare in mind is that the book is very old now, I guess it was written in the very early 80's, so a lot of the brand names etc. may no longer exist. It doesn't matter at all, the book teaches you how to do it all yourself at home.
It still costs a bit to buy all the required supplements though! I am in Australia so all the brand names are different here, but it doesn't alter the result of the cleanse as far as I can see.
Also I want to say that a lot of the other colon cleansing gurus and their books reference Dr Jensen often and take many of their testimonial examples from his book (legally I assume).
