Advice/opinions on costochondritis PLEASE!

I was just diagnosed with costochondritis this past Monday however I'm questioning whether this is accurate. The doc spent less than 10 min. with me, prescribed pain meds and a NSAID. The medication did help alleviate the pain and the discomfort is very small now. Here's a recap of my case.

1 year ago I had a fall that caused me to land on my right side. I had severe pain in the shoulder and rib case. Eventually this went away and I never went to the doc's office. I experience tenderness in my right rib every so often but it's not debilitating. June 2007 I experienced heart attack like symptoms and difficulty breathing. Later in the week I went to the ER - everything was normal. People thought it was a panic attack. 2 weeks ago I accidentally choked and coughed very very hard. I felt some discomfort afterward in my chest and tenderness in the lower right ribs. Last week I began experiencing alot of pain in my back in addition to the rib tenderness. I went for a massage but it didn't do much. Friday I noticed the pain in my ribs increasing. I had to walk and move carefully. Saturday my right ribs were very tender and there was also a tender spot on the back side of the rib. I began noticing discomfort/tightness just under the rib cage. While sitting at a bench during dinner my lower back was hurting and my legs began to tremble. I went to the truck to recline and within 20 minutes I started shaking and teeth chattering. I was suddenly in ALOT of pain. Rushed to er - doc thought I may have a broken rib b/c when she touched the backside of my rib I jumped. I took a shot and opted to wait and see my reg. doc. By 4:30 a.m. the shot waned and the pain was intense. I began taking 800 mg of motrin. On Monday I saw my doc. Use of bra very comfortable and pain in back began while sitting in chair. I reclined in examination chair, doc pressed my rib area, touched just under the rib cage and it triggered horrible pain.

Now it's Thursday, rib pain almost gone but I still have a little discomfort on the backside. I have also noticed an increase in discomfort when I have gas. Doc's office said xray came out clear - not fractures or anything unusual. Does this really sound like costo?
