Re: Arsenic in wells? An update.
It all comes down to not enough or too much of something. Too much of anything is detrimental... too little is detrimental as well.
This is from "Minerals for the Genetic Code"
Arsenic
Arsenic according to Olree is an essential trace element. In India, when WHO shut down water wells due to finding trace amounts of arsenic in them, Olree states it led directly to as many as 3 million deaths from cancer. In addition, he states that arsenic is a "profound requirement for living systems".
Olree illustrates a point. While enough arsenic may prevent, and even treat, too much may cause what was to be prevented possibly due to upsetting the body balance.
Olree goes on... a females arsenic levels must go up 10 times in order to have a male child. Without it, there is spontaneous abortion. Pine needle tea delivers enough arsenic to prevent miscarriage.
While Olree states there is a need for Arsenic levels to go up in order for a woman to have a male child and prevent spontaneous abortion, other sources state that high levels of arsenic are suspected to increase the chances of still birth.
Arsenic has anti-cancer and anti-leukemia applications (p 118 -119)
A balance must be maintained between too much and too little.
Note:
The pine seems to concentrate arsenic and the closer a tree is to an arsenic polluting source, the higher the concentrations. For instance in primitive forests the concentration of arsenic in pines may be around .5mg/kg however within a thousand meters of an arsenic polluting smelter plant they could range from 15 to 22 mg/kg with soil concentrations of 30 to 120mg/kg if I remember right.
When one gets into supplementing due to a KNOWN deficiency a balance is going to be eventually normalized and most likely, if unsupervised, exceeded. When this occurs the same symptoms one was hoping to alleviate can return as there are hundreds of actions and reactions occurring with many other co-factors in the body. One cannot supplement with one mineral/element/vitamin and expect it to do or react in only one way.
One can find many references to symptoms in the supplementation of many things that have the same or similar symptoms in a deficiency state or toxicity state of that "supplement". As an example check out the deficiency and toxicity symptoms on calcium and magnesium...

Using
Iodine as an example and to stay on forum topic... it has an effect on dozens if not hundreds of processes in the body. What are the consequences of over consumption yet to be addressed when unregulated by competing halides or other minerals/elements/substances in the body?
I suspect the idea behind Dr. Jarvis' suggested 3 days a week with one drop of
Iodine for 150 pound or less person, 2 drops for heavier and Cayce's recommended cycling in his readings has something to do with maintaining this balance. Whether the amounts they both suggested remain valid today is in question due to changing times, however both the cycling and days off methods are valid and used in both allopathic and alternative medicine, as well as in athletic/sports performance/nutrition regimens etc. quite effectively.
All this to point out that too much is just as bad as not enough.
Question on these wells:
Where are the high levels of arsenic coming from in these water sources? My guess is that there is a pollution source somewhere as the article suggests; perhaps even contamination from the pollution sources during the monsoons... run off. Simple solution, stop the pollution.
