Charles Brown, Atty Charles G. Brown, Esq. - National Counsel

Former state Attorney General of West Virginia, Charles G. Brown, practices law in Washington, D.C. where he specializes in health law and represents organizations and individuals challenging the economic status quo in dentistry and medicine. His legal expertise includes antitrust, consumer protection, administrative, and government relations. Mr. Brown represents Consumers for Dental Choice in their legislative efforts to ban the use of mercury in dentistry, to create a fair playing field for mercury free dentists and to enlighten the public about the health hazards of amalgam. Spearheading the national campaign to expose the deceptive practices of the American Dental Association (ADA) and state dental organizations, he is also legal counsel for the Coalition to Abolish Mercury Dental Fillings, the lobbying arm of the movement.

He served as staff attorney at the Federal Trade Commission, Deputy Attorney General of West Virginia, chief of that state's Antitrust Division and in the 1980's was twice elected Attorney General. He returned to private practice in Washington, D.C. where, in 1995, he joined the law firm of Swankin & Turner, whose lead partners, David Swankin and James Turner, are two of the nation's leading consumer advocates.

A Yale law graduate, elected to Phi Beta Kappa at Denison University, his strong belief in justice became evident when he was a civil rights advocate in Mississippi and later a teacher at a state prison prior to law school.

Mr. Brown has argued before the Supreme Court and currently directs the Victims Rights Political Action Committee. He is the author of First Get Mad, then Get Justice: The Handbook for Crime Victims (Carol Publishing/Birch Lane Press, 1993), a how-to guide for crime victims to assert their rights, he also edited
The Sherman Brigade Marches South: The Civil War Memoirs of Colonel Robert Carson Brown (CCS Publishing 1995), written by his great-grandfather.
