I've realized that an unspoken qualification in many areas is to be a madman in order to get a certain position of authority (but of course, they don't call it that). It was always very naive of society to think that the US gov't. has our best interests in mind, but the scientist who wants to "thin out" the human race is not even a real scientist, let alone in the government (he got an applause).
