I don't make the back ointment because pinetar is hard to obtain, etc...I also rarely have a use for such a product.

I do have a source for black salve, which is nothing like Christopher's black ointment. The black ointment would be Ok to use on a old sore that won't heal, "IF" it is not tender, but the B&W would be better or even the BF&C ointment of Christophers. Maybe if you had a splinter that you couldn't dig out it would be great for that, etc.
