My Dog and iodine

My dog (a Pek) is now 14 years old and that's pretty old in dog years. He is still in good health, but that playfulness was long gone.....or so I thought.

A couple of weeks ago, I started putting a couple drops of Lugol's Iodine in his water dish. I figured he would turn up his nose and not drink it, but he did drink and seemed to really like it. His little sister, who is 8, was the same way. She loved it.

I didn't think too much about it until yesterday when the 14 year old hit me when I walked in the door from work wanting to play. Today, it was the same thing. He wanted to play. His sister is a Pom and she has never been one to play a lot. But, he was grabbing towels I was just now trying to fold and running with them. This was a game we played when he was just a puppy. Watching him today was like turning back time. I stopped folding clothes and played tug of war with the towel for the longest time. My husband was amazed. We both loved watching him so playful.

The only thing that I have done different with him is the Iodine and I guess it's helping turn back the clock. I am so grateful.
