TESTING CORTISOL
Due to the fact that blood tests often “miss” persons with adrenal fatigue, and fail to show the levels of cortisol during the entire spectrum of waking hours, we recommend saliva testing for cortisol. The test can be ordered directly by the patient http://thecanaryclub.org/content/view/196/52/
This test cannot be done while supplementing with HC, IsoCort (or any other adrenal glandular), licorice, ginseng, etc. You have to be off these substances for 2 weeks - and if you experience any symptoms of low cortisol such as nausea or shakes while gradually weaning off - this tells you that you are not ready to discontinue. There is no sense in suffering for 2 weeks to take the test - as the symptoms are already giving you the answer you seek.
