Something new to report ...
Hi Guys - I made a new discovery this weekend that I wanted to share.
Because of rheumatoid symptoms due to Lupus, my right hand has become knarled. My little finger is frozen stiff and can't be bent no matter how hard I try and my middle fingers stiff so that I can't touch them to the palm of my hand unless I use my left hand. I can't pick up ice without dropping it, etc.
I've been OPing since July 8, 2007. I'm visiting a friend this weekend and we played cards Friday night and I shuffled two decks at a time even fanning them out after the shuffle. I had forgotten that I couldn't do that and my friend always had to shuffle for both of us. Saturday night my friend was asking about the benefits of OPing and I realized that I was shuffling and could bend my fingers all the way down to my palm without assistance from my left hand. I had OPed Friday before I left home, but hadn't Saturday morning. As the evening wore on, I became unable to fan the cards, and it became progressively harder to shuffle - sometimes even spraying the cards all over the table.
I plan to do a couple of back to back OPing when I get back home later this evening and I'll see if it makes a difference in the dexterity of my hands and my shuffling ability. I'll keep you posted. Oh, BTW, even though my fingers were stiffening up, I can still close them all the way to my palm.
