Re: Oops - NASA says 1934 was the warmest year!

Hi, I just read that NASA found that they had misreported their climate data for 1998 and admitted that after review, 1934 still retained the record as the hottest year on record. Apparently they were embarrassed, and this news has not been widely reported in the news.

NASA released their corrected data at
http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/graphs/Fig.D.txt
which shows that of the 5 hottest years since records have been kept, 3 of the 5 hottest years were 1934 and earlier.

1. 1934 1.25 degrees C above annual mean

2. 1998 1.23

3. 1921 1.15

4. 2006 1.13

5. 1931 1.08

I'm at a loss to understand what happened here? Does this sound right?
