Or... are possible surgical consequenses worth it?
Hi. Good post.
I wanted to add this: I work in a hospital in the Ortho/Neuro ward (this means lots of surgeries). Since working there, I've been telling people that they are *crazy* to electively go for surgery - without at least trying some alternatives first. The possible consequenses of surgery seem to worsen by the day. There are PLENTY of people sitting in the hospital one, two, or more weeks after their surgery (most of them are told they will be out in one to three days if it's not considered "outpatient." These people are having secondary complications, like MULTI DRUG RESISTANT INFECTIONS (infections with bacteria which have evolved past the effectiveness of any current
Antibiotics we know of). There was one lady who went for gastric bypass surgery and who came back weeks later because during the surgery, her intestines were unintentionally pinched. She was having gastric issues, went back in, and they found necrosis (rotting) in part of her small intestine. They had to remove a large part of her intestine, and now this lady will live for the rest of her life with a colostomy bag and partially digested food.
If this kind of possible complication sounds "worth it" to you, then go ahead - get that gallbladder removed. Hey, it will be a couple of days off work!
