Last year I had a problem with my lips and I am not sure if this is what it was or not. They were horribly dry, scaley, peeling, and it extended to the skin around my lips as well. NOTHING helped, it just made it worse when I put chapstick, vaseline, anything that used to moisturize and heal them when they were chapped. I was trying EVERYTHING I could think of, and found some glycerin in my cabinet. I also had some lanolin from when I breast fed my son. So I started putting the glycerin on, then putting on the lanolin a few minutes later. Now I only use lanolin at night and I can wear lipstick again. Occasionally it will feel like it is starting to come back and I will slap some glycerin and lanolin on and in few days back to normal. They are still very sensitive, and I have to keep something on them all the time. I do not know what triggered this. I switched toothpastes, stopped all flouride, and that didn't seem to help. Only the glycerin and lanolin combo.
