yes... mucous is of great importance to the body, however too much can cause problems... Iodine sufficiency has an affect to thin the mucous which allows it to flow more freely.
because of eating habits, the diet generally causes more mucous to be generated in the body than is necessary. so, you may want to look into a mucousless food program to get an idea of how to keep amounts lower.
