Invincible, everyone, a question about calcium
If calcium helps SAD, and if it is true that calcium is absorbed better when it is with magnesium, and vitamin C (in a particular balance); could we rely upon kale as a source of calcium?
As I understand it, kale attracts, and retains, much calcium from the soil...plus other goodies.
And, in more northerly areas, kale continues to live well into the cold weather. I've seen it alive and dark green with snow on it.
Another plant that doesn't mind the cold is chickweed. Apparently chickweed creates its own little greenhouse beneath the snow, and lives on. However, I don't know if it contains much calcium, or not.
I ask because I prefer living food as long as I can get it...and I live above the 49th paralel.
Sprouting, in a jar on my kitchen counter, is a favorite occupation. Perhaps I could sprout kale seeds.
I have seen a picture of people in Moscow, in winter, standing and opening their heavy coats to reveal light summer clothing...to get some winter sunshine. Probably they don't do this for more than a few minutes at a time, but they must feel they are getting some benefit from it.
Any ideas?
