at the time this article was written, 1/5 of all human genes had been patented... it is closer to 25% now.

These patents are now going to come under scrutiny and I have no idea what to expect in terms of an out come. The validity of these patents was dependent on a flawed gene theory that was recently turned upside down by new findings.

The effects of GMO's on life in general seem to be more problematic than anyone could have ever imagined. The sad part about all of this is that the common man has been trying to say this all along... Science has been the dummy here, motivated by greed and a system and government that endorses and supports that greed.
