Re: TMJ Popping Video
I've seen videos in which people claiming to have TMJ manipulate their mouths and jaws to "crack" them on purpose. With me, it's in the morning (hence, the undone make-up and hair), or late at night when I "pop".
I have a misalignment of the midline, 6mm. They say that's what throws me out of whack.
The only time I've been hit in the head was a car accident at the age of 15, where my head slammed through the windshield.
Right now, at 3:00 PM, I cannot manipulate my jaw in a way to make it pop by itself. 6 hours from now, it will pop with my mouth closed!
I have a crossbite, from the misalignment, and somehow it makes my mandible joint have to slide sideways into a position every time I open and close my mouth. Yes, this sound vague to me too, however it's what 3 different doctors have told me. If you look at me straight on, my chin and nose are diagonal from eachother.
I've never had braces, and the orthodontist that I've been seeing told me on Monday that with a problem "as profound" as mine, he cannot certainly say that it would be worth the money the get braces. He said that it's too late for that... but he is going to make me a new appliance, at no charge that will set my teeth into a position that is suppose to be better for my jaw joint.
Anyway... is a pop this loud pretty much the norm? I haven't met anyone else with the same problem.
