Re: A Plan for Living a Long and Healthy Life - Pt 3 Bad Things to Do and Consume

Just to add to the conversation....I had aluminum
poisoning "off the chart" according to tests and
so I am now hyper-vigilant in my effort to keep
my aluminum exposure to a minimum, as much as possible.

I used to use Magnalite cookware which was a newer
version of Club Aluminum. Had aluminum tumblers, bowls,
even some flatware. Had an airport aluminum rocking
chair and even a rare aluminum bedroom set for a while.
Of course, aluminum bakeware, and my afternoon soda
came from aluminum and my afternoon lunch was more
often than not, a can of V-8, you guessed it, in an
aluminum can. My antacids contained aluminum and the
baking powder I used contained aluminum, and my underarm
anti-perspirant/deodorant contained aluminum.

Of course, I went cold turkey and over the years have
done more than a few rounds of chelation therapy and
I feel like I have pulled myself back from the brink.
My naturopath, 11 years ago was saying that there would
be an epidemic of Alzheimers because of aluminum exposure.
That was a sobering thought...

Now, I feel pretty good about my efforts although there
are risks which are more difficult to manage and so I
just sort of say a prayer over my food and hope that my
efforts to transmute anything negative work for me...

Many many many restaurants rely heavily on aluminum
cookware. Everything from bowls to those chefs frying
pans are aluminum. If you looked in an industrial kitchen,
like a school cafeteria, you would see aluminum galore.

I have given up all aluminum cans, and containers and
decline any beverage now which I suspect may have come
from one. I never drink a beer which is from a can and
will not hesitate to ask a friend if the glass of beer
sitting in front of me was from a bottle or a can. I
actually have successfully shifted many friends use of
cans to bottles after explaining my concerns...

Of course, no more aluminum in my deodorants. I became
an avid label reader and with that habit, my health has
increased exponentially. I use toothpaste and deodorants
from a health store only and after carefully reading the
ingredients.

I tend to eat baked goods I make which also keeps me
healthier. It costs a tiny bit more to buy my baking
powder from a health food store to make sure it is not
made with aluminum, but I can also enjoy my cake and
eat it too, knowing I am not ingesting toxins.

It is also a big effort to limit my use of aluminum
foil but I am good about it for the most part. I use
glass roasters to keep in heat and moisture. I had a
cousin who worked for Alcoa for most of his life die
of brain cancer which he blamed on the aluminum dust
in the plant. That he felt it was due to aluminum got
my attention...did I mention, he died at a younger
age than most?

For many of us, something as common as the automatic
coffee maker is a source of aluminum. The pumps used
to pump the water from one side of the pot through
the heating element is made of aluminum. I use a french
press or a Melitta drip pot which works for me at home,
but again, if I enjoy a cup of coffee at a friend's
house, I am often exposing myself to aluminum in my
cup.

Here is a link to the other many potential ways to
ingest aluminum. It is not surprising that there is
no intention by the government to highlight the
dangers of aluminum since it is plentiful and economical
to use. It is a shame however that something like cans
of diet soda are available to our young people in schools
and of course, the food they eat in the cafeteria is more
often than not, prepared in aluminum.

Education is a key to change and so if enough people
shift to alternatives, who knows, we could go back to
a time when all beverages were in glass bottles.

be happy, be well,
