White rings are usually due to inorganic salts, sometimes from taking baking soda, too much salt, or other salts such as magnesium salts. Iodine helps remove toxins, and I would suspect Iodine only if in your not so recent past you had overdosed with baking soda, table salt or Epsom Salts . Iodine would show up itself as red or brown spots.

I am a little confused because you say that the white ring is around the pupil, and not around the iris. The iris is the whole colored area and the pupil is the black dot in the middle. The salt rings are commonly around the iris.

However, it could be that you are saying that the iris itself is very very light. That could be normal (good actually) if you took really good care of yourself during the pregnancy and nursing. Lack of toxicity. I read somewhere that there are only two eye colors, blue and brown, and the variations were due to toxins. When those toxins were removed, the eye color lightened and brightened.

But you know what you are trying to say and I don't. Check out this site. It has pictures. If something is really wrong, you should be able to recognize it in one of the pictures. And maybe some of these white things could be called a ring around the pupil.
