I don't think this is a settled issue yet. There is more research needed before a definitive statement can be made. The following link is 2 years old, but may give you an idea of some of the potential unknowns complicating a generalized simplistic answer, such as what are the specifications of your home's plumbing system?
My advice would be to go ahead and purchase your home colonic system. In my opinion, the benefits you will recive from using it will outweigh any potential negative effects.
But I do welcome other opinions from anyone else reading this thread. Municipal water systems differ greatly in their ability to deliver pure water to their consumers. I have a client who is a retired water company employee who has described the condition of the interior of the cast iron water pipes he witnessed after a break. He said the smell was overpowering. It is apparently from what are known as bacterial biofilms.
