Goitrogens

"Goitrogens" are mis-understood. They're only gointrogenic when one is iodic-deficient. As long as enough Iodine is present, they have no negative effect, but rather a positive one, viz, brassicas, which contain beneficial glucobrassicin that is broken down to indole-3-carbinol, and also the beneficial sulforaphanes. If one were to avoid brassicas just becauase they are considered "goitrogens" by some un-informed writers, they would deprive themselves of these beneficial, and I believe essential, materials. Most of what I've seen written about "goitrogens" are mis-informed opinions.
