The only alternative to this type of legislation, imo, is of course to grow your own as has been stated (if you can!), but to also search out a local farm in your area that provides organics. Family-based organic businesses, I predict, will be in consummate demand by those individuals who no longer trust their Co-ops.

These huge Agri-Business Co-ops (Whole Foods, Wild Oats, Wal-Mart, etc.) that obtain their "organic" produce from "California" - which is a joke in itself with all of its attendant pollution & their fluoridated watering practices, with fluoridated shipping practices (see Wombat's X-cellent post):

- are not only ripping people off of their hard(ly) earned moolah, but are NOT dedicated to the common good.
