Palladium and Platinum in Dental Work and Jewelry

Webster's Dictionary: Palladium is a metallic element atomic no. 46, atomic mass 106.4 resembling and occuring with platinum, used as a catalyst and in some alloys.

Platinum is a very heavy, ductile, malleable, silvery white metallic element, atomic no. 78, atomic mass 195.09, very resistant to acids, heat and corrosion, and therefore used as a precious metal in jewelry and in some forms of chemical apparatus. An excellent conductor of electricity, the metal is used for electrical contacts and in the platinum resistance thermometer etc.

Platinum metal is any of six metallic elements including platinum and metals resembling or occuring with it: iridium, osmium, palladium, rhodium and ruthenium.

n.b.They forgot to mention that it is used in dentristy.

A book written by Daunderer, published by ecomed shows the following symptoms for palladium:

Local: Inflammation of mucous membranes (jaw, tongue), periodontal disease, loss of teeth, disturbance of metabolism (bacteria, candida, other fungal infections), metal taste.

Nervous system: nervousness, headache, lack of concentration, depression, paralysis.

Immune system: allergy (acne can cover the whole body), cross allergy to nickel, susceptibility to infections, chronic bronchitis, ? of cancer

He also states that palladium deposists irreversible in the brain, damages all cells, is a strong nervevous system and immune system poison, a strong allergen with cross reaction to nickel.

Roswithas experience with Palladium

I have some interesting news to share about findings in my case of behcet's syndrome. Finally the report from the tox-lab in Germany came back that analyzed the root of my pulled tooth for palladium. The report says under 250ug is considered normal. The reading for my tooth is 1,900ug/kg. I indeed have severe Palladium toxicity according to the report from the lab.

So we know now that I have not only a problem with Mercury in my system but also Palladium. Which I have been told by people in Germany is much worse than Mercury, because it causes severe nervous system problems. I already know that, just from what I have gone through over the past year, but actually was still quite sceptical about Palladium being the problem. Unfortunately now I cannot doubt anymore that Palladium toxicity is what is making me so ill.

The part I have to deal with now is that I probably have to have all my teeth pulled or at least quite a few of them. The root of the tooth that was examened was so drenched full of Palladium that the advise from the lab is to at least have all the teeth pulled that were under the Palladium bridge, and probably all on the opposite side (lower gum). I just had the bridge removed about a month ago, but that alone does not seem enough since the Palladium is absorbed into the root system of the teeth and from there goes into the peripheral nervous system.

The problem I am facing is how do I find out which roots are soaked and which ones are not. There are not even adequate testing methods in the States for any of this. Looks like I have to go to Germany, since enough cases of Palladium toxicity have been reported over there to make doctors aware of the problem and develop more methods of treatment.

I had a chance to talk to doctor Koenig in Duesseldorf who is operating a new type of brain spintogram that can detect metals in the brain. It is much more sophisticated than the regular MRI. I am a bit lost at this point. On one side I am relieved to have an answer for all the weird things that happened to me over the past year, but facing to have my teeth pulled somehow throws me off right now.

I had the chance to talk to several people in Germany who got very ill from palladium in their mouth. One woman reported to me that she was diagnosed with MS due to her symptoms, as it turned out later through testing she had palladium toxicity from a bridge in her mouth. Her pulled teeth were sent to a tox-lab in Germany and the roots analyzed for palladium content. She had to have most of her teeth pulled, palladium was also found in the side of her mouth opposite the bridge. She is doing better these days, but still taking DMSA and other things to get more palladium out of her system. She also recently had a special brain spintogram done by Dr. Koenig in Duesseldorf to proof her case. She did this for insurance purpose to get reimbursement for all the treatments she had done. She reported to me about a case where a man was actually wheel chair bound. After palladium removal and treatment he walks around fine these days.

I have since been able to talk to two other people who got very sick when palladium was added in form of a crown. One woman had symptoms similar to my case which included inflammation of all mucous membranes.

I also contacted the "Institute fuer Naturheilverfahren" in Marburg, doctors there specialize in treating chronic illnesses due to amalgam and other toxic compounds. They told me that the toxicity picture of palladium resembles that of mercury-amalgam. The people who got ill from palladium, claim it is even worse.

I say this might be true, looking at my own case. I have been suffering from severe nervous system problems along with a whole batterie of other complains, ulcerations, puss sores, bleeding gums, swelling, and numbness and paleness in my mouth, severe gastro intenstinal problems, urinary tract problems, candida infections, eye inflammation, inflammation of all mucous membranes and was eventually diagnosed with the autoimmune disease behcet's syndrome. Problems with my peripheral nervous system were so extreme last year that I almost died.

Just yesterday I finally recieved a written report from the tox lab in Germany. Analysis of my pulled tooth showed an astronomical reading of palladium in the tooth root.

Under 250ug is considered normal my reading is 1,900 ug/kg.

I have now proof that indeed I have a severe palladium toxicity problem. The dentist in Germany told me that she has never seen a reading this high.

The toxicology department of the University in Mainz, Germany has created a service for people concerned with amalgam, palladium or other metals like cobalt, chrom, nickel. Their webpage has a short description on symptoms caused by palladium.

I translated from German: "Loss of weight, palpitations, unregularities with urine and stool excretion, weakening of the immune defences, allergic reactions like pain and swelling in the mouth, inflammation of gums, itching and dizziness. Animal testing showed palladium to be cancer causing."

I personally think this list is not complete. But it is sure good to read that the Univeristy of Mainz is actually reporting about the toxicity of amalgam and palladium and is giving out information concerning these. Looks like another step ahead.

I had some other testing done when we were still searching for a clue to my illness. A test with a so called vega machine showed palladium in my dental complex, peripheral nervous system, thyroid, kidneys and spleen. Silver amalgam and thallium was found in some of these also. I was not to sure how reliable a test like this is and looking for proof the tooth analysis was the best I could come up with for now. The result gives me reason to belief that indeed the vega test is a pretty good tool. My dentist had actually suggested it.

PALLADIUM FROM GERMANY

The German Health Ministry has been warning dentists since 1993 not to use palladium-copper alloys any longer.
...especially people who have nickel allergies react to palladium. Adding dental metals like palladium heightens the risk of illness in some people.
Palladium/Copper alloys contain up to 10% indium and can cause severe periodontal disease.
Contense of Palladium/Copper alloys can be up to 10% Indium, Gallium, Zink, Tin, Cobalt.
In Switzerland Palladium dental alloys have been banned.

Laboratory tests are showing the following toxic effects:
-obstruction of important enzymsystems like creatin-linase, aldolase, alcalite phospatase, carbon-anhydrase, trypsin, chymotropsin
-disturbance of collage synthesis like bone and cartilage
-obstruction of thymidin in the DNA
-accumulation in diff. organs
-allergic reactions in people with nickel allergy

early symptoms of toxicity:

increased salivation
pain in teeth and jaw
tongue burning
cold feeling in mouth
metal taste
peeling of mucous membrane around teeth
fungus like coating in throat and sore throat
painful, swollen lymph nodes in the neck

late symptoms:

dying of teeth
granulomas
puss pockets with dead tissue
swollen tongue

systemic early symptoms:

extreme nervousness
extreme tiredness
confusion
memory loss
dizziness
migrane headaches
burning of eyes
allergies
impairment of immune system
burning blisters on body

systemic late signs:

nerve pain in the face
paralysis of face
muscle cramps of tongue, lips, around eyes
sinus infection
bronchitis
lung ailments without clear reason
difficutly breathing at night
problems with stomach, intestines, liver, bladder, kidneys
weight loss
joint and muscle pain
muscle cramps and weakness
earnoise
visual disturbance
depression
insomnia
outbreaks of sweat
palpitation
