Edgar Cayce, the sleeping prophet, could only do his readings while being hypnotized. He was a devout Christian. Read the bible everyday, taught Sunday School, etc. It totally blew him away to have his subconscious not only give complicated medical advice (much of it herbal, nutritional and exercise, etc - radical in the 1920's) but to hit upon the idea that people live multiple lives - reincarnation!
