Dr. Hardy -
I got blood test results back and I have high cholesterol (234) and high LDL (164) and high carbon dioxide (31). I'm 59, overweight, and want to change my habits so I don't end up sick for the rest of my life. Can you suggest something for me?

Here are the answers to questions you've asked other people:
Tell me what foods you eat - oatmeal, fruit, coffee, milk or soy milk, lots of mexican food, eggs, salad, too many carbohydrates and sugar, splet bread & cookies
How many bowel movements a day - 1-3
How much water you drink a day - about 4 cups
How much meat (including fish and chicken) you eat a day - some turkey and a little chicken, no other meat or fish
Do you eat fried foods, white flour? - chips, not much white flour
Do you drink beer or wine? - 1-2 times a week (one glass)
Do you exercise? - 2-3 times a week, bicycling 4-5 miles
How are you sleeping? - yes, 7-8 hours
Do you wake up refreshed? - not usually
Are you depressed? - sometimes
Are you on any meds? - no
Do you have any skin problems? - currently poison ivy on my arms, generally I heal slowly from bites and scrapes.
