TESTIMONIAL ~ Iodine killed the chiggers!
In the Insect Bit Forum, I asked about chiggers - we live in a marshy area where chiggers lie in wait for me, in particular. I've had 3 infestations of those wee, tiny, hell-bugs and it seemed to take weeks (literally) to rid myself of them and that included using the topical junk that was prescribed by an MD.
So, it's now officially Chigger Season. I went through the garden 2 days ago and, later that evening, had chigger booboos all over my feet and ankles. Just so folks know, chiggers rest in tall grass or on vegetation along woodlines in low-lying (altitude) areas. When a host brushes against the vegetation, the chiggers crawl all over the host and deposit their eggs beneath the skin in particularly bound-up areas: for humans, that would be along bra-lines, panty lines, wherever jeans are creased against the skin, etc. Now, once the little (*$&% lay the eggs, the larvae become active and excrete this toxin that itches beyond imagination. Incidentally, the larvae tend to become "...more active..." at night.
The problem with this is that, no matter how deep you dig, you just can't get those little ... THINGS ... out. Some people have tried nail polish, others have tried oils, and I finally tried iodine, last night. BINGO!!!!!!!! Wombat Salve is the flipping CURE for chiggers!
