iodine and toxic in the liver.

Ok, I have reading many topics here regarding Iodine and liver. But how does the Iodine work good on the liver? example; if someone has Gallstones do these just go thru the bileduct? or do they become liquid because of the iodine? I presume most of the liver toxic become "stones". So probably if it's good for the liver it's getting rid of these toxic, wich means it's a cure?
