Re: What I Want
DQ...What a breath taking post!!! My husband and I are 60 and 61 and have been
married 40 years. We have a fantastic, fun and loving relationship. I can't even
imagine life without him and I know he'd tell you the same about me.
He's retired now...been retired 3 1/2 years...and when men from the plant stop by
for the first time for a visit...they always say, "So you're Katy, I've heard your
name a thousand times!" :-) What a priceless compliment!
We just gave in to
Cell Phone s last summer...but we bought the Tracfone that has
no monthly bill...just to carry for emergencies...we each have one. And we call
each other at just crazy times...just to 'play'. He's an avid deer hunter and last
fall...he'd call me from his tree stand...or he runs to town for supplies (he always has a project going in the workshop) and he'll pull in to the mailbox at the
end of our lane and call me from there. :-) Not long ago...we went out to eat...
and before we left, I ran into the ladies room and he said he'd wait outside the
front door...so before I came back out...I called him...just to 'play'. :-)
We leave notes...he brings me pine cones, twigs and rocks when he goes hunting...I
have a huge bowl of them on the back porch that I 'keep'. :-)
It's nothing for him to lift the lid of the comode and find a round smiley face
that I've colored with a yellow highlighter and dropped in the comode. On his
50th birthday...I took 50...6" smiley faces and gave to his best friend who then
passed them out to some of his best friends at the plant and as they saw him that
day...they gave him the smiley face and wished him a happy 50th birthday.
We are best friends...soulmates...we have date nights...(even if it's just a
pallet picnic in front of the tv) and we plan weekends away and they're always
heavenly.
I have always told people I live a "storybook life"...and even though we have
the same old problems most parents and grandparents have with their kids and
grandkids...we really do. We put things in perspective when there are problems
and we make 'us' a priority.
You sound like a 'million dollar catch' :-). I can't imagine why you can't
find what you want...except that you must be looking in the wrong places. :-)
But I hope to goodness you find what you want...and find her soon.
You mentioned some of your favorite sayings, quotes, etc. One of my favorites is
"The very best love stories have no ending!" And here's one my daughter gave me
a while back...I'm going to do something creative with it and put it in a frame..
but the little reading says:
"I met in the street a very poor old couple who were still deeply in love after 60 years of wedded bliss. Their clothes were old, tattered & torn, their coats were threadbare, and the water passed through their shoes to their bare feet inside.
But the glow of love and contentment surrounded them and it appeared that even
twinkling stars floated from their souls."
I'm a hopeless romantic...and you're right...when you are in love...regardless of
your age...even in tough times...the whole world still has a beautiful glow. I
love everything and everybody...I am saturated with energy...energy for the things
I need to do...energy to do for others...I love life and living it to the fullest.
I can't help but wonder...are you a 'writer'? :-) I'd never even read your posts...and only found this 'love forum' the other night when I couldn't sleep...
which I think is 'normal' for women my age. UNFORTUNATELY :-)
Anyway...I love the way you write and describe things. The right person is out
there for you...and I sure hope you find her...because she's missing as much as
you are.
Have a wonderful day! kathryn
