The parent post is utterly stupid.

Communism does not have a valid implementation anywhere on this planet. Even the former Soviet Union called itself the "Union of Soviet Socialist Republics". Not a mention of Communism anywhere in the name. It wasn't communism. It was socialism, through and through.

China's not a real communist state, either.

Cuba comes closest, but still no cigar. (*snicker*)

Real communism terrifies the people with power because they lose their power in that scenario. You have to actually stop thinking you're better than others, you have to be willing to contribute and be a part of a group. Real communism cannot be forced on people. Consider a hippie commune or the Amish, and you start to get the idea of what real Communism is.

It helps to actually read what Marx wrote versus what you're being told Communism is. I'm not trying to say he's a saint. I'm not trying to say that it's a perfect system. It's not, especially in today's day and age, where too many folks are suffering from the entitlement mentality.

But all these claims about "Communism coming to America" have nothing to do with Communism. It's Socialism. There is a huge difference. Please take the time to figure out the difference.

Greed is not a virtue. Neither is total selflessness. There has to be a balance, and real Communism works only when that balance is achieved by the choice of everyone involved. Funny thing is, as soon as that kind of balance is achieved, any political system is just as good as any other, because it's the decent people making the system, not the system making people decent.

In fact, a world full of caring, decent people who work toward the common good, tempered with enough self-interest to make life worth living, but not at the expense of others, needs no government at all. Forget communism; you might as well be anarchists then.

We are, sadly, a long ways off from that, but I'll happily let someone prove me wrong here.
