In my country (Philippines) where we have a lot of pineapples (probably exported to you via the Dole brand), your mouth or tongue hurting is a signal for you that you have had your fill of pineapples for the moment.

So stop eating.

When you feel like it, go ahead and eat more pineapple a few hours later or the next day.

This is what I tell my children.
