From what I hear (and I'm not a woman) the pap smear that is taken is different from the sample that is taken for a test for STDs. I could be wrong, but just like a blood test for HIV is different from the blood test taken for a cholesterol check - the same blood but they are sent to different labs and you MUST SPECIFY what tests you want.
