Hygiene Habits, Two Roots Shrinking

On the X-ray, 6 months ago, my upprer right back two teeth chowed some diminishing in size.  The dentist said this was due to a low grade infection.  Now the dentist said a root canal is needed on my second from the back, and ther is decay in the back tooth, under the crown.

I am not that conscientous in my higiene, brushing and flossing.   I got my sonic tooth brush going today.  I havbe been brushing my teeth once a day, in the morning.  I really don't like the toothpaste as it burns the top of my tounge.

My wife got some Sunrider toothpaste, but I have not tried it yet.  I have some mouthwash, but it stings the top of my tounge also.

I have a tounge scraper, and that feels OK.

I should probably brush my teeth when I feel that I will not eat for a while.  I enjoy the taste of the food in my mouth afdter I have eaten.  So brushing my teeth after I eat is not pleasant for me.  I may have to change some of my habits and feelings about the spaces of time between eating.  I should eat less anyway, as I am overweight.  But that is one of my motivating factors, for getting myself to do work that I don't rally like to do.  I put a sndwhich or a bould of chips on the desk, and then I get working.   My whole motivational structure is based on having teeth taht take care of themselves.

I read over some othe rthread titles, but did not see any that are real similar to my dilimnas.

Maybe everyone else brushes their teeth after every meal and never snacks between meals.  I may just be an unusual person.

This is my first post on the Dental forum, and I just ordinarily start posting before I start really thinking or reading up on stuff.
