Re: Lyme Disease!!! Yes!!!

Hi,

I'm not a medical doctor but I do have Lyme. Because it took so long to diagnose, I am now severely disabled, in constant pain and fatigue, and can't work.

I read your post. If it was me in that situation (and it was at one point), I would run, not walk, to my doctor and get myself a scrip for doxycycline just as gast as I could. Your symptoms appear to me to be Lyme *completely*, no doubt in my mind. So many doctors have NO idea what Lyme is. It can mimic over 300 diseases and can present differently from person to person. There is no one way for it to show up. Your doctor was wrong.

The problem is, this disease is so resilient and so insidious that 2 weeks of doxy is often not nearly enough to stop it in its tracks. Many people suffer greatly because of this, even after the 2 weeks or week of Antibiotics . Your symptoms already are so bad, even this soon after the bite, they need to be treated quickly!

I only know this because I have had to live it and I have met so many people who have been devastated by this infection and its co-infections (yes ticks carry co-infections which you may have too).

I think you are right for listening to your gut. I would say head over to Lymenet.org and read all of their newbie links. By catching this in time, you may save yourself years and possibly a lifetime of constant agony. There are also alternative health things you can do, but as much as I hate to admit it, the Antibiotics nearly saved my life. I am using everything I can to get better.

I would also find a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor (LLMD), otherwise you are going to go to a doctor and he or she will tell you there's no way you can have lyme, they will give you the wrong lyme test which will come up negative, they will tell you it's all in your head or try to treat you with antidepressants, they will tell you it's fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue, etc. etc. It's NOT!!!

You are at a crucial time now. I wish I knew when I was at that stage what I know now, but unfortunately it took about 2 years and 16 doctors before I was correctly diagnosed.

The *real* story about Lyme disease is one of the best kept secrets in the world. I can't believe more people aren't talking about how so many of our diseases are actually infectious, i.e. Lyme and co-infections.

Don't believe me -- trust what your instinct tellls you. Go to
http://www.lymenet.org
and read up on Lyme. Your jaw will hit the floor.

I wish you all the best and hope that you're able to get through this without the absolute hell that so many have gone through.

Cheers,

Alison
